Unit Price

Use this field to calculate the special price using a dollar amount over cost method.

The unit price will maintain the same dollar differential over real, market, or base cost, depending on the value defined in the Markup Basis field, whenever special prices are updated.

If this field appears to be disabled, it is because a Markup % has been defined. To enable the field, set the Markup % value to 0.00.

Markup %

Use this field to calculate the special price using a percent of cost method.

The cost that is used in calculating the unit price is determined by the value in the Markup Basis field.

When a markup % is used the dollar amount of the special price is displayed in the Unit Price field, but the value is locked and can only be changed by adjusting the markup % value.

When using the markup % option entrée uses the settings of the Customer Special Price Formula (located on the Pricing tab of System Preferences) in conjunction with any Price Drops (also defined on the pricing tab of system preferences) that may be defined.

More information on the Customer Special Price Formula & Price Drops can be found in the System Preferences chapter.

This example illustrates how entrée calculates the unit price when using the markup % option. For this example lets assume the following:

The Customer Special Price Formula is set to % of Cost. (with no rounding)

Cost * ( 1 + ( Markup % - Price Drop % / 100 ) )

A Price Drop of 3% is defined for items with a cost of $ 25.00 to $ 29.99.

A Price Drop of 5% is defined for items with a cost of $ 30.00 to $ 40.00.

The Markup Basis is set to Base Cost.

Base Cost    Markup %    Price Drop %    Adjusted %    Unit Price

 $ 20.00           20.00             0.0                  20.00            $ 24.00

 $ 26.00           20.00             3.0                  17.00            $ 30.42

 $ 32.00           20.00             5.0                  15.00            $ 36.80

Markup Basis

Use the drop down menu to set the cost basis for the special price.

The Manual cost basis option for Special Prices has been added to the Markup Basis menu.

For Special Prices configured using this Manual option it means that the price is not linked to any cost value. So the "Cost Basis $" value will display a "<n/a>" rather than "$0.00". The system NEVER updates these prices automatically and NO markup values are applied.

Cost

The cost field displays the current real, market, or base cost of the item, depending on the value in the Markup Basis field.

The value displayed is for informational purposes only and cannot be changed in the edit special pricing parameters dialog.
