There is an option on the Pricing Setup tab of System Preferences to automatically recalculate level pricing in Inventory File Maintenance.

If the Auto Recalculation in File Maintenance option is enabled, the values in the pricing grid will be updated automatically whenever the item is viewed in Inventory File Maintenance. When the settings on the pricing setup tab are changed or if the cost of the item has changed in any part of the entrée system the user will be prompted to save changes to the item, even if it appears as if nothing has changed.

If the Auto Recalculation in File Maintenance option is disabled, the Recalculate Prices button will be displayed on the cost/price tab of inventory file maintenance. Clicking this button will recalculate the level pricing based on the current markup percentages/amounts and the current cost values.

When the Auto Recalculation in File Maintenance option is disabled, a new column will be added to the right of "Profit Margin" column called "Profit Basis $".

Profit Basis $, based on the setting of the calculation option, will show Base Cost from either the current pricing cost data or the current item costs (Landed Cost if System Option #171 - "Calculate Gross Profit in Invoicing and Inventory Maint. using Landed Cost" is enabled).

Level Price grid editing when the Auto Recalculation in File Maintenance option is disabled and the new Profit Basis $ column is displayed.

Two new icons have been added for the Cost Method button. The button toggles between two states to indicate what cost method is being used in the Level Pricing grid.

This button icon is displayed when Auto Recalculation is disabled. It is used to control whether the "Profit Margin" is calculated from the "pricing" cost or from the "item" cost (the old method). The button hint" on mouse over will say: Profit Margin Calculation (Pricing cost).

When this button icon is displayed it indicates that it is using the current "item" cost. The button hint" on mouse over will say: Profit Margin Calculation (Current item cost).

If this option is disabled it can adversely affect items where level pricing is derived as a dollar amount over cost.

Items that are priced using the dollar over cost method must have the level pricing updated at the same time as the cost is changed to preserve the dollar differential between the cost and the selling price.
