"When these guys at NECS put the entrée system together, they knew what they were doing.“
Dan Bozard, President -Dillon Provision

The Situation

Dillon Provision had always submitted paper based shipping forms to their accounting department for data entry. After visiting two NECS customers in Oklahoma and one in Wisconsin to find out "does entrée.UPC really work", Dillon Provision's president, Dan Bozardsaw for himself that entrée is "as good as advertised".

Their Latest Challenge

65% of Dillon Provision's 450 line items are catch weight products, which challenge accuracy and productivity. Dillon Provision needed an automated system so that scanning items prior to shipment would update the accounting system in real time.

The Solution

entrée.UPC was the driving force for Dillon Provision to purchase the entrée system. When they launched entrée.UPC , they simultaneously cut over their accounting system to the entrée system for issuing PO’s and managing A/P, A/R, inventory and their P&L statement. Also, because most Dillon Provision customers place multiple orders during the day, NECS modified entrée to accommodate incremental additions to a customer's pick list prior to shipment.

Results

Since Dillon delivers to customers in a 170 mile radius, having to make a return trip to correct a shipping error is very costly. "It's a lot easier for us and the right product is always on the truck", said Bozard. "Scanning eliminated invoicing the wrong price and shipping the wrong products."

On busy days, Dillon Provision reduced loading time by two hours. entrée.UPC more than paid for Dillon Provision's entire entrée investment.

"We've become better buyers", stated Bozard. The system enables us to reorder product based on real time inventory levels compared to recent movement information."

entrée’s price management feature enables Dillon to assign 10 tiers of pricing so they can reward customers accordingly.

The Next Logical Next Step

Dillon Provision's logical next stepis to use entrée.NET to make their product catalog available online for their customers through a website that will be created by NECS.

"In addition to the expected productivity and accuracy gains, the savings from catching errors in vendor invoices was significant. “Scanning via entrée.UPC is the smartest business decision I’ve ever made” said Jeff Stein, Ideal Meat president. “Now we know that we had been losing thousands of dollars for years prior to doing scanning. Human error resulted in overcharges by our vendors when package weight labels were misread by their person entering the weight into the invoicing system. All of these errors are now caught when we match each bill of lading with its respective invoice. entrée.UPC has paid for itself more than fivefold."
- Ideal Meat

The Situation

Ideal Meat has been an enthusiastic NECS customer that always operates the most current version of the entrée system since the late 1980s.

Their Latest Challenge

Recording the actual weight of variable-weight items during order picking and shipping is a very time consuming task. Ideal Meats needed to automate its system for correctly processing sales order line items so that the catch weights are within specific tolerances of the order quantity.

The Solution

entrée.UPC enables Ideal Meat employees to scan any barcode label into their entrée system in real time so that customers will be correctly invoiced based on the actual weight.

Results

Speed and accuracy enhance receiving, shipping, invoicing, and physical inventory processes as catch weights, shortages, and other adjustments are scanned into the entrée system in real time. Beneficiaries include loading dock employees, warehouse assemblers, accounting, sales reps, and managers who need real time information.

Drivers no longer call saying that they are missing boxes or weights are off.

Productivity enhancements reduce the need for additional staff as the company grows.

entrée.UPC has been huge in terms of eliminating frustration and for improving productivity".
Rich Longhini, President –Longhini Sausage Company

The Situation

Longhini Sausage had been using entrée to manage its accounts receivable since 1997. As the business grew, the staff had become frustrated dealing with the nuances associated with their catch weight products. After creating an invoice, they'd wait for production before manually entering the exact weight for each box as calculated through their intelligent scale system. Then, they would enter the same information into entrée so that accounts receivable would match each respective invoice and package label.

Their Latest Challenge

In order to positively impact its brand image and to reduce costs, Longhini wanted to streamline its process from production through delivery and from invoice through collections.

The Solution

Longhini invested in a total solution that integrates entrée.UPC , bar code scanners and their intelligent scale system software, which enables simultaneous printing of package labels and invoices, and updates to entrée accounts receivable.

Results

Error free scanning prior to shipping eliminates having to manually enter the same information into two systems.

Customers receive fresh product earlier each morning and Longhini is able to serve more customers.

Packaging costs have been reduced as a percentage of total sales, because the variable weight system easily allows for additional product to be included in each box.

Drivers aren't being paid to sit around waiting since trucks are now on the road 90 minutes earlier each day.
