One of the issues food distributors have to battle is that of changing costs. The costs of some products change weekly, or even daily. Staying on top of your current costs and customers' prices is vital to the success of your business. The entrée system automatically maintains selling prices regardless of how your costs fluctuate.

Some distributors lock prices for a week at a time. They generate and distribute price lists and those prices remain valid for the specified time period. Other distributors know what their costs and pricing will be a week or more in advance of the actual cost change. In this case, the future costs and prices may be entered into the system, but only become effective on the specified date.

Future costs and prices are maintained in a separate database file until the Update Future Pricing utility is run to move them to current costs and prices. Costs and price levels are updated from all future pricing entries when this function is run. There is also options to update other parts of the system such as special pricing.
