The SMS manages all of the security accounts for the entrée system. There are two distinct types of security accounts, a user account and a group account. Security accounts are also used by the entrée system to track who entered an order, who made price changes and to track what users do in other parts of the entrée system.

User Account

A user account is created to provide an employee with access to the entrée system. It will contain a password that the user must enter to access the entrée system and a list of which features of the entrée system the user is allowed to access. In addition the user account may also contain the user's full name, account description, order taker code. User accounts may be disabled if an employee takes an extended leave or to preserve the account without actually deleting it.

Group Account

A group account is created to allow 1 or more users access to select areas of the entrée system that they may not be allowed to access with their user account. Group accounts do not have a password, but do contain a list of which features of the entrée system anyone in the group is allowed to access. In addition the group account may also contain a description. Group accounts may also be disabled.

Mary's user account does not allow her to create invoices.

The "Sales" group allows it's members to create invoices.

If Mary was a member of the "Sales" group she in turn would be allowed to create invoices.
