Inventory items can be added using any one of the following method:

1.Click the Add Item button.

2. Click the Copy Item button. This is useful if you need to add another similar item because most of the key item information will be automatically entered from the currently loaded item.

3.Enter the desired new item number in the Item Number field and press the Tab key.

4.entrée will then display a Confirm dialog message "No entry has been found for item #Newitem, Would you like to add a new item?".

5.Click Yes to add the new item to the inventory file.

Setting Up a Case Item

We suggest updating the cost/price system to work in conjunction with how IFM and Invoicing allows for case breaking. Set up your case item as you would any other item with the exception of the following:

1.The Unit of Measure field must be set to CASE.

2. The Pieces per Case field must be set to the smallest number of portions in the case.

If you are breaking the case into pounds, set this to 1. You must also enter the master cases total weight in the Constant Weight field.

If you are breaking the case into pieces, set this to the total number of pieces in the case.

If you are breaking the case into quarters, set this to 4.

If you are breaking the case in half, set this to 2.

3.The Case Item Number is left blank (no value).

4. The Piece Item Number must be set to the smallest portion in the case.

If you are breaking the case into pounds, set this to the LB. item number.

If you are breaking the case into pieces, set this to the PC. item number.

If you are breaking the case into quarters, set this to the QRTR item number.

If you are breaking the case in half, set this to the HALF item number.

When setting up the inventory file for the first time, many food distributors have found it easier to collect key information about their product line before sitting down to enter the products into entrée. Some have even used product listings from their old system for this purpose.

Reviewing the entire chapter on inventory file maintenance before starting the data entry process may also assist in determining which entrée features will be most beneficial for your company.
